Mas de Caret

Mas de Caret (1786) is one of the farmhouses of Bartra, a place in Montblanc (la Conca de Barberà), located near Farena, in the valley of the Brugent river (Prades Mountains). A wonderful place where forests blend with cultivated areas, the farm, recreational areas, trails and routes (GR), cave paintings, climbing areas... In 1988, Teresa and Carles, along with their two-year-old daughter Roella, moved from the city of Reus to the Prades Mountains to start a life project in harmony with their love for nature. They bought Mas de Caret, a ruined farmhouse, along with its land. With great enthusiasm and effort, and with the great help of Teresa's father, they rebuilt and renovated the farmhouse. It was a tough but exciting start, during which they combined their jobs with the reconstruction of Mas de Caret. They built a warehouse, a small farm and a chicken coop, an environmentally friendly water treatment plant, they put cultivation areas into operation, cleaned and conditioned the forest. In 1998, they decided to expand the farmhouse to offer an agro-tourism space to finance their life project, and in 2000 they started the construction of this expansion, which would later be followed by the construction of Casa de la Roca and the multifunctional hall of Mas de Caret. Local materials (stone, wood, tiles, etc.) were used in the renovation and construction of all spaces, combined with other nature-friendly materials (hemp natural insulation, cork, thermoregulated clays, photovoltaic panels, etc.). With the advice of professionals and the help of friends, they managed to integrate advanced bioconstruction techniques into the typical architecture of the Prades Mountains, achieving a comfortable, pleasant and sustainable finish. Currently, they continue to promote new projects for energy improvement (such as increasing electrical power and obtaining hot water through solar panels), forest cleaning and conservation projects, non-industrial and pesticide-free farming, raising happy ducks and chickens... * Exceptionally, the entire house can be rented.
