Message from the owner
Mas dels Frares is a Catalan farmhouse that, as its name indicates, formerly belonged to the Dominicans of Girona. In 1830, it was expropriated and auctioned off due to the Mendizábal disentailment. Over the years, the farmhouse changed owners, who used it as a hunting lodge. It wasn't until 1919 that the ancestors of the current Bahí family, a family of farmers originally from and related to the Pla de l'Estany region, bought it and settled there to live, while also turning it into a forestry and agricultural operation. The Bahí family changed the activities of the farmhouse, but never abandoned the initial agricultural activity. It wasn't until 1999 that the current owners of the farmhouse began to venture into agrotourism, using a part of the unused farmhouse. Currently, Mas dels Frares has a small beef cattle operation, from which animals are obtained for consumption, both for the family and for the guests of the farmhouse. Mas dels Frares also has land where pastures and cereals are cultivated. In addition, the family takes advantage of the surrounding forest to obtain wood and firewood.
